Careers and vacancies

The Institute for Global Peacecraft is a small, independent research institute that works remotely across borders. It offers unpaid research traineeships to students and researchers at the start of their careers.

Vacancies

No vacancy or traineeship call is open at present. Calls are announced on this page with a closing date, and only applications made in response to an announced call are considered.

Who we are looking for

We look for students and recent graduates in political science, international relations, peace and conflict studies, law, philosophy, development studies or a related field, who are willing to read carefully, think precisely and hold their work to an academic standard. Prior research experience is not required for a traineeship. The working language of the Institute is English.

How we work together

Research Trainees work from wherever they are, on schedules agreed with the Director, who supervises their work. The Institute has no office that they attend. In 2026, 18 Research Trainees from universities in Brazil, Canada, Germany, Kenya, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States coded sources for the 61 Peace Definitions Review. The Research Trainees since 2025 are listed on Our people.

How selection works

Each call states what to send and by what date, usually a curriculum vitae and a cover letter or statement of purpose. Each application is assessed against the same criteria, and offers are made by the Director. Research Trainees sign a traineeship agreement for a fixed period before they begin. The Institute does not use recruitment agencies.

Non-discrimination

Applications are encouraged from all qualified candidates without distinction on the grounds of race, colour, sex, national origin, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation and gender identity.

Candidates with disabilities may request reasonable accommodation at any stage of selection by writing to .

Recruitment fraud

The Institute for Global Peacecraft does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process (application, interview, processing, training) for traineeships or any other post, and does not request information on applicants’ bank accounts. Correspondence from the Institute comes only from email addresses ending in @globalpeacecraft.org.
